Spring has sprung, Earth Day just passed and spending time outdoors is on the forefront of everyone’s minds. Since it’s the season to appreciate how amazing and beautiful our planet is, our Ford dealership near Landisville, PA, wants to highlight one of our most popular models that’s produced in an eco-friendly way: The Ford F-150.
The 2016 Ford F-150 is constructed from innovative materials such as high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy, making it an impressively lightweight pickup. By opting for aluminum over steel, Ford is able to cut the energy consumption and carbon emissions that result from the production process. Perhaps more importantly, Ford uses recycled aluminum to build new F-150 trucks with its closed-loop system at the Dearborn Stamping Plant. Up to 20 million pounds of aluminum stamping scrap per month are reused to create parts. These components are then incorporated in the construction of pickup trucks at the Dearborn Truck and Kansas City Assembly Plants. Building F-150 pickups with recycled aluminum produces just five percent of the greenhouse gases that primary aluminum production does while using less water and energy, according to a release from Ford.
In addition to the ecofriendly construction process Ford is committed to, the 2016 F-150 offers a best-in-class EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 26 highway mpg when equipped with the available 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine with standard auto stop-start technology. Because the truck is built from such lightweight materials, its drag is greatly reduced, meaning fewer emissions are released into the atmosphere.
If you’re ready to test-drive a pickup truck that’s reliable and rugged yet still respectful of the environment, it’s time to visit Whitmoyer Ford. We maintain an expansive inventory of Ford F-150 models that can be customized with different cab and body styles, cargo management systems and towing packages. Stop by today!
